Arsenal News: Man Utd SCOUT £40m Gunners target, Wilshere sale, Moreno offer
ARSENAL’S hopes of signing Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain have suffered a major blow after Manchester United and PSG both sent scouts to watch the Argentine.
Higuain, 27, is valued at £40million and according to reports in Italy today is being trailed by the Gunners.
But Arsenal are behind United and PSG in the running for the former Real Madrid striker's signature as both clubs watched him in Napoli’s Coppa Italia clash with Lazio last night.
And United are also on the look-out for Lazio’s exciting attacker Felipe Anderson, who set up the winning goal to see the Rome club through to a June final with Juventus.
In further transfer news, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger insists he will not sell Jack Wilshere at any price to Manchester City this summer.
City are preparing for life without homegrown players Frank Lampard and James Milner, who are both set to leave when their contracts expire come June.
And City's need for English players to fulfil UEFA’s homegrown quota means they may be willing to pay a premium to land Wilshere.
But Wenger has come out to categorically deny Wilshere will be sold.
He said: “We are not in a position anymore where we have to sell our best players.”
And finally, Arsenal are aiming to hijack Tottenham’s pursuit of Espanyol defender Hector Moreno this summer.
The Gunners are seeking another centre-half to play alongside Gabriel Paulista and a bid for £5m is believed to be required to sign the 27-year-old.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino knows the Mexican from his days as Espanyol head coach but Wenger reportedly believes he can tempt Moreno to the red half of north London.
