Everton swoop for Paris Saint-Germain's deep-lying playmaker Clement Chantome
EVERTON manager Roberto Martinez is eyeing a January move for Paris Saint-Germain's deep-lying playmaker Clement Chantome.
Clement Chantome is looking to leave Paris Saint-Germain in the near future
According to French reports, Chantome is eager to leave the Parc des Princes stadium after being forced to accept a marginalised role in Laurent Blanc's team.
The player himself said: "My future at PSG? For now I'm here and I'll give the maximum for PSG, it's still my first club but we'll see what happens in January."
The 27-year-old's contract is due to expire in the summer of 2015, meaning the Toffees could land themselves a January bargain.
Chantome played 28 league games for Paris Saint-Germain last season
We'll see what happens in January
Of course, Everton are not the only side keeping track of Chantome - Olympiacos and Sevilla are amongst the many suitors vying for his signature.
The Frenchman, who has earned a single cap at international level, has found himself warming the bench and far behind Marco Verratti, Thiago Motta and Blaise Matuidi in the pecking order.
Martinez currently was Gareth Barry, Darren Gibson, James McCarthy and Muhamed Besic occupying the deep-lying midfield role, but Chantome's distribution, link-up play and technical ability may be a perfect addition.
