Stoke 3 - Arsenal 2: Gunners fail to reel in Man Utd after surprise defeat
ARSENAL'S season took another turn for worse after they slumped to a surprising defeat away to Stoke.
Peter Crouch wheels away in delight after netting the opener
Goals from Peter Crouch, Bojan and Jon Walters consigned the Gunners to their fourth defeat of the campaign.
Stoke came racing out of the traps and Crouch gave them the lead almost straight from the kick off as he bundled home from close range.
The Potters doubled the lead just after the half hour mark when Bojan ghosted past a static Arsenal defence to flash home a volley.
Wenger's afternoon was further exacerbated when Walters rifled his shot into the roof of the net on the stroke of half time.
Aaron Ramsey pulls a goal back for the Gunners
Arsenal needed a response and they reduced the deficit in the 68th minute via a Santi Cazorla spot kick.
Aaron Ramsey then pulled a further goal back when he volleyed home through a crowd of players.
Arsenal's chances of achieving a miraculous result evaporated when Calum Chambers was sent off 15 minutes from time.
Manchester United and Southampton will now both hope to consolidate a top four spot with victory on Monday (8pm).
