Arsenal and Chelsea suffer major blow in battle to sign Barcelona starlet Munir El Haddadi
ARSENAL and Chelsea have suffered a set-back in their respective pursuits of Barcelona's forward prodigy Munir El Haddadi.
Spanish reports claim the Barcelona starlet will opt to remain at the Nou Camp for the considerable future, after receiving firm reassurances from coach Luis Enrique.
Enrique clearly believes Munir is a bright prospect for the future, and has shown his faith by selecting the youngster in seven of Barcelona's eight La Liga games this season.
Reports had claimed the 19-year-old has a lowly £9.4m release clause in his contract, enabling him to be poached by potential suitors Arsenal and Chelsea.
But their recently capped Spanish international is now likely to remain in Spain, especially considering the Catalan giants' efforts to embed Munir in their first-team set-up.
The Spaniard's main position is centre forward, but his versatility allows him to proficiently maraud both right and left flanks.
The Premier League duo certainly have the financial muscles to lure Munir to the Premier League, but it appears he'll opt to emulate his idol Lionel Messi.
