Everton 3 - Aston Villa 0: Barkley's return sees Toffees turn it around against Villa
ROSS BARKLEY returned to help guide Everton to their first home win of the season against Aston Villa this afternoon.
Phil Jagielka continued his impressive scoring form for the Toffees, putting Roberto Martinez's side in front after 18 minutes.
Romelu Lukaku doubled the lead for the hosts just after half-time, his weak effort somehow squirming through Villa stopper Brad Guzan.
And Seamus Coleman also got on the scoresheet after missing a month through injury with a tap in in the 76th minute.
Barkley only lasted 65 minutes but showed the type of energy and pace that have been sorely lacking dying Everton's early-season travails.
Villa had hoped the return of Cristian Benteke could similarly spur them into action, but the Belgian striker failed to act as a catalyst as his side fell to their fourth consecutive defeat without scoring a single goal.
