I did NOT nearly sign for Arsenal… despite sitting in Wenger's office - Zlatan Ibrahimovic
ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC has disputed Arsene Wenger's claim that he came close to signing for Arsenal.
The Gunners invited the now Paris Saint-Germain hit man for a trial 13 years ago.
However, a move failed to materialise and the Swede went on to enjoy the acclaim and adulation of the Ajax fans.
Ibrahimovic has hit back at suggestions a move to Arsenal was on the cards and revealed his disdain at having to prove himself during his trial.
"Today, Wenger says it was a misunderstanding," Ibrahimovic told The Guardian.
I know I’m good enough. I don’t need to show it to you. Either you know who I am or you don’t
"But I didn’t like being asked to prove myself.
“I know I’m good enough. I don’t need to show it to you. Either you know who I am or you don’t.
"I remember being in Wenger’s office and you could tell he was the boss.
"It was Wenger! But I don’t think I was so close [to signing]. I went to Ajax the next day.”
