The four stars cost United over £130million and were chosen by the club to offer their knowledge on sustainable energy.
Pictures emerged on Twitter
from the event, being held at Old Trafford's Europa Suite.
And given the excessive cost the quartet took to recruit, it would be no surprise should fans find irony in their appearance.

Rooney cost United close to £30m back in 2004, while Di Maria became the British record signing when he joined for £60m from Real Madrid this summer.
On the opposition team sat £24m Van Persie and £18m De Gea, who moved to Manchester from Arsenal and Atletico Madrid respectively.
United were hosting the quiz for the launch of their collaboration with Abengoa, the club's new sustainable technology partner.
