Arsenal news: Wilshere takes on critics, Giroud contract deal and Welbeck's England start
JACK WILSHERE has revealed he is taking seriously criticism from pundits and former players as he strives to improve in an Arsenal and England shirt.
The Gunners midfielder, 22, described Robbie Savage's remarks on his game as "constructive criticism" and confirmed he wants to take more responsibility in games.
Indeed, after being caught smoking while on holiday in the summer, Wilshere also outlined his desire to be a role model for his two children.
Welbeck says he envisaged Arsenal move
Arsene Wenger appears unlikely to sign another striker in January after offering injured Olivier Giroud a contract extension until 2018.
Giroud, out for four months with a leg break, is seen as vital to Wenger's plans going forward, despite the boss signing Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck this summer.
Arsenal are also set to offer Mikel Arteta an extension on his deal.
And Gunners fans will get their first glimpse of Welbeck since his £16million transfer to the Emirates on Monday, when he is expected to start up front for England.
The former Manchester United striker is set to replace Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge, who is out of contention with a thigh injury.
Wenger will no doubt be watching closely, praying Welbeck doesn't pick up an injury in Basle.
