WATCH Ex-Man Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson reveal UEFA's sin bin discussions
SIR ALEX FERGUSON has explained UEFA is following rugby's lead, with the ex-Manchester United manager revealing the idea of sin bins could be introduced to the game to tackle simulation.
Alex Ferguson: Introducing a sin bin would have merits [AMBIENT]
Diving has become endemic of the game with some footballers trying at times to con the referee into awarding their side a penalty.
In rugby, when players are sinbinned, they sit out of the game for 10 minutes.
And Ferguson believes sin bins are the best answer for punishing repeat offenders.
Speaking at a UEFA coaching conference, he said: "There are some merits. Simulation has become a disease in the game, there's no question about that.

"If a referee were to act, a sin bin would be a correct decision as he would be letting the public know he won't accept that.
"There was a long discussion about it but we haven't come to a positive decision about it."
Ferguson also thinks Bayern Munich are favourites to win the Champions League.
He added: "Bayern are favourites for it. They consistently threaten every year."
