No more Mr Nice Guy! Roy Hodgson to get tough on failing England squad
ROY HODGSON has told his England players he is ready to ditch the Mr Nice Guy act and get tough.
Hodgson spelt out a new hardline stance to his squad in a team meeting ahead of Wednesday's victory over Norway.
The England coach insisted he will be less worried about what outside influences say and lead the country as he wants to, starting with Monday's Euro qualifier against Switzerland in Basle.
England are battling to regain credibility following their premature exit at the World Cup and Hodgson knows his position is under scrutiny despite the backing of the Football Association.
He hinted he will be more demanding when promising to give the youngsters at his disposal a chance to prove themselves before warning the buck ultimately stops with them.
"I will work to prepare them and I will work to make sure they have a bloody clear idea of what I expect of them and what I won't tolerate," said Hodgson. "They'll either become Rooneys and Gerrards, or they won't."
