Lokeren 1 - Hull 0: Belgians unLOCK Tigers defence to take slender Europa League advantage
HULL were unable to build on their competent Europa League form after a miserable 1-0 defeat at the hands of Lokeren.
The Belgian side went toe-to-toe with Steve Bruce's men and were rewarded with a some-what fortunate goal.
Goalkeeper Allan McGregor gifted the Belgians the decisive goal after the former Rangers stopper passed the ball straight to Hans Vanaken, who calmly rounded him and rolled the ball into the net.
Defender James Chester came agonisingly close to making it 1-1 in the 89th minute but he missed the target with a free header from Sone Aluko's cross meaning the Belgian side will take the advantage into the return leg at the KC Stadium.
Hull simply couldn't find their cutting edge, and looked toothless up-front without their short-lived talisman Shane Long.
Steve Bruce will now hope his players can recover before their second Premier League fixture at home to Mark Hughes' Stoke.
