Raphael Varane's worth at least £60m! Rio Ferdinand BLASTS over-inflated transfer market
RIO FERDINAND has launched a stinging attack on the inflation of players, with the ex-Manchester United defender claiming that Raphael Varane should be valued at least £60million.
Manchester City completed the £32million capture of promising Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala, who has been tipped to become one of Europe's finest defenders by Manuel Pellegrini.
David Luiz in the meantime joined French giants Paris-Saint Germain for £50m earlier this summer and Ferdinand, who is now at QPR, has questioned the size of these transfer fees.
He tweeted: "Mangala 31m & Luiz 50m...how much would Varane cost with these valuations at the moment ??! 60-70m??"

Ferdinand however took a step further and wondered how much likes of Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate would be worth if they were playing and were fit.
He added: "Imagine how much these guys would cost today-a fit King & Woodgate, Terry, Caragher, Sol, Vidic,Stam,Nesta,Ayala!? Never mind Franz & Bobby!"
Ferdinand is a big fan of Varane, who was previously linked with a move to Chelsea, but the Blues are now thought to be closing in on a £30m deal for Roma defender Mehdi Benatia.
