The 25-year-old has made just six appearances for the Blues after signing from Werder Bremen in 2012, but he will be given the chance to rebuild his career with La Viola.
The winger, who is not part of Jose Mourinho's plans, will join the Serie A outfit on loan after he underwent a medical this morning.
The club posted a picture on their official Twitter page of Marin smiling as he was being checked out by a doctor.
It is thought that Marin's arrival will accelerate the departure of Cuadrado who appears to be Old Trafford bound.
Juan Cuadrado - Player Profile
I should say, we don't have wingers of the highest level, like Ronaldo or Di Maria, or somebody like that
Reports in Spain suggest United have an agreement in place to sign the player, although Fiorentina are holding out for a fee of £32m.
Louis Van Gaal had hinted at United's lack of wingers, when he said last week: "We don't have attacking wingers to give us width.
"Or, I should say, we don't have wingers of the highest level, like Cristiano Ronaldo or Angel Di Maria, or somebody like that," Van Gaal said.
United are thought to be stepping up their pursuit of Di Maria after a move to Paris Saint-Germain collapsed.
