Southampton are still marching out
INTENTIONAL or not, a picture tweeted by Southampton manager Ronald Koeman yesterday told its own story.
It showed an empty training ground with a few cones dotted about at the club’s Staplewood base along with the words: “Ready for training.”
After a summer of exodus, anyone fancy a game? Anyone left for a game? Anyone?
Defender Calum Chambers, 19, became the fifth player to leave the club yesterday as he joined Arsenal for £12million.
And the message from new manager Koeman came less than 24 hours after Croatia defender Dejan Lovren joined Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana at Liverpool, with Luke Shaw having moved to Manchester United.
It could get worse before it gets better for Southampton fans as speculation remains over the futures of Morgan Schneiderlin, Jay Rodriguez and Nathaniel Clyne.
Dutchman Koeman has brought in Dusan Tadic from Twente and Graziano Pelle from Feyenoord but, for now, the goodbyes outnumber the hellos.
