Nemanja Vidic: I should have switched to Italy YEARS ago
FORMER Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic claims he should have joined Serie A years ago.
I should have arrived to Italy many years ago
Vidic was unveiled to the media today after joining Inter Milan as a free agent.
The Serbian defender ended his eight-year spell at Old Trafford, leaving with long-term centre-back partner Rio Ferdinand.
The 32-year-old won five Premier League titles, one Champions League, three League Cups, five Community Shields and two FIFA Club World Cups during his time at Old Trafford, but believes he should have moved to an Italian outfit sooner.
"I should have arrived to Italy many years ago," Vidic said. "Finally I have the opportunity to play here.
"I don't think this is a step backwards in my career, I believe this is a step forward for me.
"Italian football suits my game well and, as I said before, I have joined one of the big European clubs.
"English football is different to Italian but that doesn't mean that Italian is more simple."
Vidic has signed a three-year contract with the Nerazzurri outfit, with reports claiming that he is to receive the captain's armband.
