Liverpool and Man Utd yet to table Lallana and Shaw bids as Saints draw up managerial list
SOUTHAMPTON are sifting through a list of managerial candidates to replace new Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, and they claim no offers have been forthcoming for Liverpool and Manchester United targets Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw respectively.
Pochettino quit as Saints boss on Tuesday to assume the White Hart Lane hotseat with the chairman Ralph Krueger eager to make a "swift" appointment.
"Les Reed (the club's football director) is inundated at the moment with requests from high quality managers all over Europe trying to come to Southampton," he told Sky Sports News.
"We are building a long list which should quickly become a short list.
"Any club that is well-constructed and well-organised is permanently tracking potential managers for a situation such as this."
We wanted to wait to clarify the manager's situation to move forward. There are no deals done
Former FC Basel boss Murat Yakin is amongst the early favourites with the bookmakers but it remains to be seen who will they bring in.
Saints captain Lallana is a £20million target for Liverpool while Shaw has caught the eye of United.
And Kreuger has moved to dispel fears that there could be a massive exodus from St Mary's this summer, adding: "Under the circumstances we wanted to wait to clarify the manager's situation to move forward. There are no deals done."
