Middlesbrough 3 - Barnsley 1: Tomlin puts Tykes down
BARNSLEY’S eight-year stint in the Championship came to an end as they blew the lead at the Riverside.
Centre-back Jean-Yves M’voto gave the Tykes hope with a surprise 53rd-minute opener – but Boro hit back just over a minute later through Lee Tomlin.
And Tomlin rounded off the victory with his second goal in stoppage time after Danny Graham had struck moments earlier.
A clearly dejected Barnsley boss Danny Wilson said: “You’ve seen what we’ve been like all season, and we did the same again here.
“We’ve just not scored enough goals and this result today is typical. It’s an empty feeling.
“But we’re going to try to get the best possible squad together to help us bounce back.’’
