Bayern, who destroyed Barcelona 7-0 on aggregate on their way to winning the competition, have added former Borussia Dortmund attacker Mario Gotze to their ranks and already sit 16 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.
German international Ozil believes there are reasons to be fearful when Arsenal take on Munich in the last 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday.
He said: "I have huge respect for Bayern.
"They are even better than they were last year."
Despite being underdogs, Ozil has faith in Arsenal's capabilities and says they can challenge the champions.

"Anything is possible over two legs. I'm the kind of player who loves games like these," Ozil added.
"We're not going to hide."
Arsenal went closer than anybody to knocking Bayern out of Europe last season, losing on away goals after a 2-0 win at the Allianz Arena failed to overturn a 3-1 loss at home in the first leg.
