Juan Mata: United move a surprise… but now I want to win them the league!
JUAN MATA has revealed his £37m move from Chelsea to Manchester United came at a surprise - but he is now setting his sights on winning the Premier League at Old Trafford.
Mata will be presented as United's club-record signing today after sealing a £37.1million switch from Stamford Bridge.
And after admitting being allowed to join David Moyes' side came at a surprise, the midfielder now wants to make Chelsea pay by winning the title with United.
"I would like to win the Premier League," Mata said.
"It's a very, very special trophy and I think at this club you can achieve anything. I am young and I have been lucky enough to win some trophies, but I want to win a lot more."
Mata is set to make his United debut against Cardiff tomorrow night, despite being taken aback by Chelsea's decision to sell him to a rival.
"To be honest I think it's a bit surprising,", he said. "But I have to say I am really grateful to Chelsea - to the owner, to the people working in the club and to the fans.
"The last six months were difficult for me, I didn't play as much as I wanted to.
"I understand that football is a team sport and I respected that situation. But the chance to come to Manchester United was a great chance for me to carry on with my career, they are a massive club."
