Rodgers wants new signings in January after Sturridge and Coutinho blows
LIVERPOOL manager Brendan Rodgers is planning to bring in more firepower in January as his Liverpool side struggle without injured duo Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho.
Sturridge is out for up to two months after he suffered a sprained ankle on national duty with England.
And Coutinho could only make the subs bench for Liverpool's 3-1 defeat to Hull having just returned from shoulder surgery.
But Rodgers is worried about his back-up options when Sturridge and Coutinho are unavailable, indicating he is ready to delve into the market in January to sign reinforcements.
"I think every window for us will be exactly the same - if there's a player we think can improve our squad and in particular the team, I'm sure we will be able to go out and get that player," Rodgers said.
"It was always going to be the case that if we had a few injuries to key players, that leaves us light.
"It's no different to a lot of squads, but for us it's even more prominent because Daniel Sturridge and young Coutinho were not playing and they are good players."
Liverpool have been tipped to make a move for Derby playmaker Will Hughes in January, while Barcelona winger Cristian Tello has also been linked with the Reds.
