Jose Mourinho to beat David Moyes for £40m-rated Sami Khedira in January
CHELSEA manager Jose Mourinho is planning a return to former club Real Madrid to sign midfielder Sami Khedira in January - despite interest from David Moyes and Manchester United.
United had a £34million bid for Khedira rejected by Real on deadline day, as it was too late to be seriously considered.
Instead, the Spanish giants sold Mesut Ozil to Arsenal for £42m while Moyes turned to £27.5m Marouane Fellaini from Everton.
And Jose Mourinho could be set to beat Moyes to land the player in January, with reports suggesting he intends to land the Germany international "at any cost".
Khedira revealed his dissatisfaction with the Spanish press during the international break, claiming he has been made a 'scapegoat' in Madrid.
The 26-year-old has made 11 appearances for Carlo Ancelotti's side this season, but may be on the move in the New Year.
Mourinho has told Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich that Khedira is a key target, while the player is thought to be open to a move.
Khedira is valued at around £40m by Real.
