CSKA Moscow 1 - Manchester City 2: Sergio Aguero double cancels out Zoran Tosic opener
TWO GOALS from Sergio Aguero gave Manchester City a deserved come-from-behind victory over CSKA Moscow after former Manchester United winger Zoran Tosic had given the hosts the lead at the Khimki Arena on Wednesday evening.
A dominate City responded well to going behind after half an hour, and were in front again before half-time thanks to Aguero despite having to endure challenging pitch conditions throughout.
Zoran Tosic got the opener for CSKA against the run of play in the 32nd minute, beating Pablo Zabaleta to a Keisuke Honda flick-on and firing home to give the hosts an unlikely lead.
Aguero put City level just two minutes later, capitalising on a mistake from Sergei Ignashevich to slot home David Silva's cross.
And the Argentine put City in front just before half-time heading home a neat ball from Alvaro Negredo just in front of Igor Akinfeev in the CSKA goal.
Negredo picked up a harsh-looking yellow card for his role in a disallowed goal at the start of the second half when he stumbled and put a Jesus Navas into the CSKA goal with his arm.
City pushed for a third goal to make the game safe but CSKA looked to have drawn level with ten minutes remaining, only for Ahmed Musa's strike to be ruled out for a foul on Yaya Toure in the lead-up.
Both sides had chances to score in the final stages with Edin Dzeko particularly wasteful in failing to extend City's lead and the Citizens could have been punished as Joe Hart made an excellent save from Honda in the closing seconds, but Aguero's double proved enough for City to take all three points.
The result saw City go equal on points with group-leaders Bayern Munich ahead of the Germans match against Viktoria Plzen later this evening.
