Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd face obstacle in race to sign Dutch star Wesley Sneijder
ARSENAL, Chelsea and Manchester United have been dealt a blow in the race to sign Galatasaray's Wesley Sneijder after the side's president ruled out any January transfer.
The Turkish champions only bought the 29-year-old in January from Inter Milan for £8.5m, but the playmaker was earlier this week pushed by Netherlands manager Louis can Gaal to join Chelsea.
Galatasaray president Unal Aysal insists that Sneijder will remain at the club through the winter transfer window, with the 72-year-old keen to see new manager Roberto Mancini get the best out of the under-performing midfielder.
Aysal told Bugun: "We don't have a decision or a desire to sell Sneijder. Mancini has not had enough time to find out about the squad. He doesn't want us to transfer somebody.
"Sneijder has a temporary problem, I don't care about it. He is going to regain his form with us."
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has had previous success with the Dutchman during his time at Inter and they were both part of the 2010 side that seized the Champions League title as they recorded a treble.
The former Real Madrid star attracted interest from Arsenal and United in the summer, but neither team tabled a formal offer.
It's safe to say Sneijder hasn't made the impact he was hoping since joining Galatasaray, having only netted on five occasions in 23 appearances.
