I feared Terry was finished: Mourinho questioned Chelsea captain's future
CHELSEA boss Jose Mourinho last night admitted he had wondered if skipper John Terry was finished at Stamford Bridge.
But Mourinho insisted that a rejuvenated Terry is once again a pivotal member of his side. Terry, 32, has started in each of the Blues' seven Premier League games this season, and that sequence is set to continue when they play host to new boys Cardiff tomorrow.
He has had his problems since the Portuguese coach left west London in 2007, and that led to him almost becoming a bit-part player under Rafa Benitez.
Mourinho said: "John is now recovering his self-esteem. It looked like his career was going in the wrong direction. Even I, from afar, was questioning what was happening to this guy.
"I am happy he is proving he is still a top player.
"John plays in a position where age does not make any difference. Experience helps. With what he did over the last decade, he deserves to be back on track."
