Ryan Giggs struggling to gain Fergie-style respect in Manchester United dressing room
RYAN GIGGS has revealed he has enjoyed sinking his teeth into his new player-coach role, but hasn't quite won the Sir Alex Ferguson-style respect just yet.
The winger turns 40 next month and is being touted as a candidate for the Wales job should Chris Coleman either be dispensed with or not have his contract extended.
Though Giggs is a role model for the younger members of the squad, he admits he hasn't quite commanded the same reverence that Ferguson-style reverence.
"I am enjoying my coaching role at Manchester United – it has been great," he told the Manchester Evening News.
"It hasn’t yet got to the point when I go into the dressing room and everything falls quiet.
“But education is the next step in my career and I’m enjoying it. I am enjoying working with the new manager."
While he has no qualms with David Moyes as a manager, he admits results aren't quite where they should be.
He added: "Personally, I would prefer better results but we are only seven or eight games into the season.”
