Arsenal set to see off Everton in the race for exciting goalkeeping prospect Matt Macey
ARSENAL are close to finalising a deal for 18-year-old Bristol Rovers goalkeeper Matt Macey.
Several Premier League clubs were interested in Macey, with Rovers confirming last month that they were in negotiations with both the Gunners and Everton.
But after an impressive trial spell with Arsenal in September, Arsene Wenger has stepped up his interest and now looks set to win the race for the young talent, according to Sky Sports.
It is thought that Macey will sign a three-year deal at Arsenal, with Rovers entitled to a compensation fee as a result.
Macey is very much one for the future, with Wojciech Szczesny in great form and Emiliano Viviano having joined on loan at the end of the transfer window.
