‘I snubbed Chelsea’, says United legend Sir Alex Ferguson
SIR ALEX FERGUSON has revealed Roman Abramovich wanted to install him as Chelsea manager when he bought the club in 2003.
Ferguson said it was one of a number of jobs he was offered during his 26 years in charge of Manchester United.
“They used an agent to approach me when Abramovich first took over the club,” he said.
“I said, ‘No chance, Manchester is my team, my club’. I always come back to this point – why would you leave?”
Ferguson also backed the Glazer family, United’s owners, saying: “They did nothing but support me."
