QPR 2 - Middlesbrough 0: Joey Barton leads Hoops stroll
QUEEN’S PARK RANGERS turned on the style as they comfortably retained their three-point lead at the head of the Championship.
First-half goals from Joey Barton and Charlie Austin won the game as Harry Redknapp’s side made it seven consecutive league games without conceding a goal.
Barton was at the centre of most things from the moment he scored the opening goal after four minutes. He went close to a second in the 34th minute but was denied by Boro keeper Jason Steele – only for Austin to make it 2-0 from the spot a minute later.
Kevin Bond, assistant Rangers manager, said: “It was our best performance of the season. Joey was excellent, he sets the tempo for us and covers every blade of grass.’’
