Championship Round-Up: It’s full speed ahead for Watford's Ikechi Anya
WATFORD midfielder Sean Murray has tipped wing-back Ikechi Anya to continue tearing defences apart with his blistering pace.
Anya’s two assists and stunning solo goal helped the Hornets to a 5-1 victory at Barnsley which fired them to the top of the Championship scoring charts.
Murray said: “Everyone knows how quick Anya is and how dangerous he can be. When he has space to run I don’t think anyone can catch him.”
Murray, Troy Deeney, Davide Faraoni and Fernando Forestieri were also on the scoresheet with Jason Scotland scoring a consolation for the Tykes.
Jesse Lindgard says failure at Leicester last season will spur him to success at Birmingham.
He scored all four goals in a dream debut as Blues beat Sheffield Wednesday 4-1 and said: “I’ve definitely got a point to prove because I wasn’t ready for it last season.”
Lawrie Wilson has warned his Charlton team-mates they cannot continue to be generous to their opponents.
Millwall striker Scott McDonald’s 20-yard shot was deflected into the Charlton net for the winner and Wilson said: “We have not had a clean sheet yet and that has to be where we go from here.”
McDonald’s first goal since signing from Middlesbrough completed a great week for Millwall after they had also won at Blackpool.
Charlie Austin is hoping to have a new strike partner this week after keeping Queens Park Rangers on top of the table.
Boss Harry Redknapp is looking to dip into the loan market.
Austin’s 75th-minute penalty was the only goal at Yeovil as QPR made it 20 points from a possible 24.
But it was the fifth game in a row that Austin has played a full 90 minutes and he said: “You just can’t carry on with one striker. It’s tough being on your own.”
