Middlesbrough want Norwich pair Luciano Becchio and Daniel Ayala on loan
MIDDLESBROUGH are plotting to take Norwich pair Luciano Becchio and Daniel Ayala on loan after missing out on both targets during the transfer window.
Becchio and Ayala find themselves on the outskirts of Chris Hughton's first-team squad, with Becchio particularly surplus to requirements following the arrivals of Ricky van Wolfswinkel, Gary Hooper and Johan Elmander at Carrow Road.
Boro reportedly made a £1.8m bid for Becchio on deadline day only to run out of time to complete a move.
And now Tony Mowbray hopes he can get the Argentine on loan with the hopes of completing a permanent deal in January.
Becchio is also thought to have attracted interest from Reading and Brighton, having made just nine appearances without scoring since joining the Canaries from Leeds in January.
Ayala, meanwhile, looks set for another loan spell, having spent last term with Nottingham Forest.
The 22-year-old Spaniard rejected professional terms with Sevilla to join Liverpool in 2007, but has since spent most of his time out on loan.
He had stints at Hull and Derby before joining Norwich on a permanent deal in 2011, but failed to make much of an impact before heading to Forest last season.
