Wigan 2 - Nottingham Forest 1: Home comfort for Owen Coyle
JORDI GOMEZ finally got new boss Owen Coyle off the mark at the DW against high-flying Forest.
The Spaniard slotted home in the 34th minute to secure a priceless three points for a Wigan side that hadn’t won at home since March.
It had started well for Forest when FA Cup hero Ben Watson gave away a cheap foul on Radoslaw Majewsk on the edge of the box in the eighth minute.
Andy Reid strolled up to open the scoring with a sublime clipped free-kick.
If we had drawn the game people would have said that we had dropped points at home but the bottom line is we needed to win
Five minutes later Jack Hobbs tangled with Marc-Antoine Fortune in the box and Latics’ Shaun Maloney slotted home the resulting penalty.
Coyle said: “If we had drawn the game people would have said that we had dropped points at home but the bottom line is we needed to win.’’
