Juan Mata set for talks with Jose Mourinho over Chelsea future
JUAN MATA, who scored as Spain strolled to a 10-0 victory over Tahiti in the Confederations Cup in Rio de Janeiro last night, will find out next month that he is an integral part of the plans of new Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.
The Blues are unhappy that Barcelona have been trying to unsettle their playmaker, with stories emanating from Spain that coach Jose Mourinho does not rate Mata and had blocked a possible pay rise.
But a source close to Mata said: “Chelsea do not want to sell Mata, he scored 20 goals last season and was their player of the year.”
Mourinho is set to reassure Mata when he comes back for pre-season training.
Mata scored once against Tahiti, while his club-mate Fernando Torres hit four and missed a penalty.
Chelsea are also moving closer to a £10million deal for Vitesse Arnhem midfielder Marco Van Ginkel - also wanted by David Moyes at Manchester United.
Gael Kakuta, who was on loan at Arnhem last season, is set to go the other way and make his move permanent.
