Robin van Persie's transfer to Manchester United could have been more straightforward
After telling the Gunners he would not sign a new contract last summer, Van Persie had to wait six weeks before they struck a £24m deal.

Arsenal used the interest of Manchester City and Juventus as a bargaining tool – even though Van Persie had made up his mind to join United.
“It was difficult because it wasn’t only me who decided where I went to play,” he said. “It also depended on my former club as well and how they saw it. And then of course you always have these games that the directors play.”
Arsenal, meanwhile, have confirmed Andrey Arshavin, Denilson and Sebastien Squillaci will leave the club on the expiry of their contracts at the end of this month.
