Stoke fans protest over prospect of Mark Hughes becoming manager
STOKE supporters are upset about Mark Hughes’ arrival as their new manager – and have started protesting even before his official appointment.
They have started a petition expressing their frustration at the news, and one follower has even printed a “Hughes Out” banner.
“A lot of fans don’t want Mark Hughes,” said Bryan Shaw, chairman of the Stoke City Supporters Club.
“There is even a petition against him. We need a manager like Roberto Martinez to be able to put bums on seats – we are already 2,000 season tickets down on this time last year. Mark Hughes’ reputation goes before him after QPR. It feels like deja vu in that we have another manager the majority of supporters don’t want, just like Tony Pulis. A lot of fans are very disappointed and expressing it.”
