Juventus cast an eye over Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen
JUVENTUS are ready to make a swoop for Thomas Vermaelen, should the Gunners wish to cash in on their defender.
Vermaelen has endured a tough season, and was dropped by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger after question marks were raised over his wavering performance levels.
The Belgian defender, who is valued at £15m, has been on Barcelona's radar too along with Daniel Agger as they look to shore up their defence with Carles Puyol in the twilight of his career at the Camp Nou.
And Serie A champions Juventus have placed Vermaelen on their wish list.
Reports on the continent mention Antonio Conte is an admirer of Vermaelen and has placed him on his list of preferred defensive targets including Andrea Ranocchia, Angelo Ogbonna and Davide Astori.
It has also been suggested Arsenal could release Vermaelen for as little as £5.9m.
Vermaelen's side clinched Champions League football on the final day of last season.
