Rio Ferdinand is so vital for David Moyes at Manchester United
DAVID MOYES says Rio Ferdinand will be a key dressing-room figure as Manchester United cope with their managerial transition next season.
Ferdinand, 34, has signed a new one-year contract, and Moyes says his experience will be vital as the players adjust to life under his management following the 26-year reign of Sir Alex Ferguson.
“Rio has had one of his best seasons with the club and even from the outside you can see what a big character he is in the dressing room, so I am delighted he has signed a new contract,” said Moyes. “I am looking forward to working with him.”
Ferdinand said: “We are moving into a new era which is very exciting.”
United have cut their interest bill by £10million a year after a major refinancing through the Bank of America.
