Chelsea on loan star Thibaut Courtois' keen to prolong Atletico Madrid stay
CHELSEA'S on loan keeper Thibaut Courtois has indicated he wishes to stay at Atletico Madrid.
The 21-year-old shot stopper has come on leaps and bounds at the Vicente Calderon and is keen to extend his stay to a third season.
Courtois has not featured for Chelsea since joining in 2011, as Petr Cech is the undisputed Stamford Bridge No.1.
Though the Belgian was reported to be a makeweight in a potential deal involving Radamel Falcao, he maintains he would like to continue his development in La Liga rather than warm the bench in the Premier League.
"I want to stay. I'd rather play in La Liga than be a substitute in the Premier League," Courtois told Yahoo News.
"There's a World Cup and I want to go. Here I will be able to play in the Champions League and there's no better place to play than here. At Atletico I have progressed a lot."
Courtois, who lifted the Copa del Rey on Friday night after Atletico beat Real Madrid, has conceded just 30 goals this season.
