David Moyes to bring Everton's Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines to Manchester United
MANCHESTER UNITED manager-to-be David Moyes could make two of his former Everton stars in Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines the first signings of his Old Trafford tenure.
Moyes has agreed a six-year contract to become Sir Alex Ferguson's successor at Manchester United next season, and has already began drawing up his shortlist of transfer targets.
While big-money strikers of European pedigree like Robert Lewandowski and Radamel Falcao have been linked with the Red Devils in recent times, Moyes is thought to be eyeing up a double swoop on his former club Everton for two players of Premier League experience.
Toffees left-back Baines and versatile midfielder Fellaini are wanted by the Scot this summer - with their combined transfer fees likely to circle the £40m mark.
Fellaini has a widely reported £24m release clause in his contract, while long-term United target Baines has a £15m asking price.
Although Moyes' first task when he takes the reigns at Old Trafford officially on July 1 will be to deal with want-away striker Wayne Rooney, the 50-year-old is keen to secure two of his most consistent performers at Goodison Park this season.
Rooney is interesting Chelsea, PSG, Monaco and Bayern Munich and the England international dropped a big hint on Wednesday night that his future lies away from his current club when he removed the words 'Manchester United' from his Twitter account.
