Manchester United target Robert Lewandowski coy on future
BORUSSIA DORTMUND striker Robert Lewandowski has poured cold water on talk about his future by insisting he is just focusing on the Champions League final.
Dortmund reached the European showpiece final at Wembley later this month after narrowly overcoming Real Madrid in the semi-final.
And the 24-year-old hitman has refused to be drawn on talk of his summer transfer plans, with the coveted Pole heading into the final year of his contract.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is thought to have made Lewandowski his prime target this summer, although his agent suggests he won't play in the Premier League until the 'future'.
"Bayern Munich my next team?" questioned Lewandowski in response to rumours he has agreed a deal to join the Bundesliga champions.
"It is too early to answer this question, there is the Champions League final and Bundesliga games still to play."
Lewandowski's agent has hinted that his client is unlikely to join United this summer, although he revealed the frontman likes the English top-flight.
"I can tell you only one thing - Robert is interested in the future coming to the Premier League," agent Malik Barthel is quoted to have said.
"The Premier League is very interesting for Robert. How long is the future, I cannot say to you. I think this summer is not the future."
Lewandowski appears destined to move on from Dortmund this summer, and Ferguson has aired his intent to sign him, doubting Bayern Munich's chances of signing him following Mario Gotze's announced £32m switch between the two clubs.
"If the right player comes along you have to be prepared to make a move," claimed Ferguson.
"I can find room for anybody here as long as they have the required quality. I am not sure Lewandowski will be sold to Bayern now. The Dortmund fans are not going to be happy and I don't think they will sell to their main rivals.
"I think they will either let his contract run out, or sell him somewhere else."
