Arsenal duo Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny want Gunners stay
ARSENAL manager Arsene Wenger has been given a boost by his central defenders Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny, who have both revealed that they want to stay at the club.
Recent speculation had linked Mertesacker with a summer return to Germany with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg interested, while team-mate Koscielny also rubbished any suggestions he could leave the club.
With Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen - along with goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny - recently dropped from the starting-line by Wenger, Mertesacker and Koscielny helped the team complete back-to-back 2-0 victories over Bayern Munich and Swansea recently.
Barcelona are reportedly keen on making a summer move for Vermaelen, which would increase the importance of both Arsenal centre-backs staying at the Emirates further.
"A change is not an issue," Mertesacker told German newspaper Bild.
"Our manager Arsene Wenger gives me absolute confidence, I play every game. I can't think of anything else, but to stay at Arsenal."
And following the 28-year-old's insistence that he is staying in North London, Koscielny, 27, also stated his desire to remain with Arsenal.
At a press conference on duty with international France, Koscielny said: "I have a contract that lasts for another four years. I'm comfortable at the club.
"People trust me. It is a bit more complicated, but if every time I play bad, I'm changing clubs, it is not possible. I do not want to go elsewhere.
"London life suits me and my family."
