BORO’S season continued to crumble as Birmingham picked up their first-ever points at the Riverside at the eighth attempt.
Tony Mowbray’s Teessiders were booed off on the final whistle after their tenth defeat in 13 league games and their third straight loss.
Nikola Zigic grabbed the only goal – his eighth this season – on 81 minutes. The beanpole Serbian striker beat Boro left-back George Friend on the line to scramble in a cross.

Birmingham boss Lee Clark, who dropped Zigic last month for a lack of effort in training, said: “Since that situation he has performed very well, and today he scored a proper striker’s goal."
