Nottingham Forest's Billy Sharp making a point
BILLY SHARP is ready to talk terms with Nottingham Forest – though he still wants to prove a point to Nigel Adkins.
Sharp, 26, shipped out by Southampton boss Adkins on loan for the season, impressed new Forest manager Alex McLeish with a late equaliser in the 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.
The striker is mulling over a permanent move and said: “I know I can score in the Premier League. But I am in no rush. I want to help Forest get promoted.”
Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich revival stayed on course with a winning return to Wolves. McCarthy showed his old club no mercy and Aaron Cresswell, one of the scorers in a 2-0 victory, said: “That was for the gaffer. It was a very professional display.” Lee Clark has been told some of his players must be sold, and the Birmingham boss will happily fill his team with teenagers after an inept 3-1 defeat at Bolton.
Acting chairman Peter Pannu needs to ease the financial strain and Clark said: “The players have to deliver. I’ll play 11 teenagers, no problem.
“I need people who are prepared to work.”
