Sheffield United eye Motherwell's Jamie Murray
SHEFFIELD UNITED want to land on-form Motherwell striker Jamie Murphy in a cut-price £60,000 January switch.
The English League One side have opened talks in a bid to sign Murphy, who took his goal tally for the season to eight with his double in the 3-2 win over Hibs.
The Blades could face competition from Bournemouth, who are monitoring the Motherwell star’s situation.
United have been long-term admirers of the 23-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer and could move for free then.
Cash-strapped Motherwell have still to come to an agreement with United but need to bring in money and would rather get cash next month than lose him for nothing in the summer.
Well boss Stuart McCall, however, would prefer to keep his top stars as his team push for a top two finish.
But speculation linking Murphy with Rangers is wide of the mark.
Championship side Millwall may also renew their interest in Fir Park defender Shaun Hutchinson.
