Peter Odemwingie is perfect for West Bromwich Albion
STRUGGLING Southampton stayed rooted to the bottom of the table as they went down 2-0 at West Brom last night.
The Saints, who have lost all five of their away games this season, fell behind to a goal by Peter Odemwingie in the 36th minute.
He hit a powerful shot from 25 yards that took a crucial nick off Maya Yoshida on its way past goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga.
Southampton were unlucky when Rickie Lambert crashed a shot against the crossbar but Odemwingie tied things up with his second strike – a header from Shane Long’s cross after an hour.
The win moved Steve Clarke’s side up to fifth place.
