Nigel Clough has axe to grind
NIGEL CLOUGH has cautioned clubs against firing managers too often.
Clough saw his Derby side dismantle Blackpool 4-1. The Seasiders had learned of Ian Holloway’s move to Crystal Palace just hours before kick-off at Pride Park.
Clough, now the second longest-serving manager in the Championship, said: “Changing manager doesn’t always work out for the best. There is a lot to be said for consistency.”
Loan signing DJ Campbell believes the appointment of Mick McCarthy and a first win in 13 games, 1-0 over Birmingham, promises to change everything for Ipswich.
“With a manager of his calibre, you know it is going to turn around sooner rather than later,” said Campbell.
Nottingham Forest skipper Danny Collins says he never saw a result as dire as the 4-1 home defeat against Millwall
With a manager of his calibre, you know it is going to turn around sooner rather than later
which ended his side’s five-game unbeaten run.
He said: “We could not get going.”
