Michael Laudrup's plea
MICHAEL LAUDRUP has urged the Football Association to bring the Chelsea race row investigation with referee Mark Clattenburg to a swift conclusion.
The Gosforth official refutes the allegation that he called John Obi Mikel a “monkey” during last Sunday’s 3-2 Premier League defeat by Manchester United.
Swansea are Chelsea’s next opponents at the Liberty Stadium tomorrow and boss Laudrup wants the sport’s governing body to find a quick resolution.
He said: “The problem is we have let it go on too many days so there are too many times to talk about it. It happened on Sunday, now it’s Thursday and you are asking me about it. Let’s deal with it.”
He is not a diver. I thought it was wrong to give him a second yellow card
Clattenburg also controversially sent off Chelsea striker Fernando Torres for diving.
Laudrup said: “He is not a diver. I thought it was wrong to give him a second yellow card.”
Torres returns from his one-match ban, served during the thrilling 5-4 League Cup win over Sir Alex Ferguson’s men, for the league leaders’ visit to South Wales.
