Coisty wants Celts after outlasting SPL leaders
ALLY McCOIST last night hailed his League Cup heroes and insisted he’d lap up the chance of an Ibrox knockout clash with Celtic.
The Rangers boss was thrilled with his Third Division battlers as they mauled Motherwell with their best performance of the season.
The SPL leaders were soundly beaten after second-half goals from Lee McCulloch and Dean Shiels gave the Ibrox side a win their fans craved.
Now the Light Blues go into the hat along with Celtic, Hearts, St Johnstone, Aberdeen, St Mirren, Dundee United and Inverness for the quarter-final draw.
Asked if he’d fancy a crack at the Hoops, McCoist said: “That game would create a massive amount of interest – it always does. But just give me a home tie – I’ll take a home tie against anyone. Tonight’s was a really satisfying result and it was an indication that we can play and beat teams from higher up the divisions.

“It’s a small step on a long, long road.”
The only downside was a facial injury sustained by Fran Sandaza. The triker suffered in a clash of heads with Shaun Hutchinson and was in hospital last night having X-rays done on his cheek and jaw.
Meanwhile, Well boss Stuart McCall was livid at his Fir Park flops.
He said: “I’m very disappointed with the way we played.
“No individual can come off that park tonight happy with how they played.”
