Middlesbrough 2 - Ipswich 0: Luke Williams boost for Boro
YOUNG gun Luke Williams put his side on the road to victory with a belter at the Riverside.
The 19-year-old stylishly put his hometown club ahead in his first Boro game for almost two years.
The England Under-19 international was composure personified when he broke the deadlock to vindicate manager Tony Mowbray’s decision to hand him a starting slot at the expense of the absent Marvin Emnes.
“I thought let’s not disappoint him if he’s so hot – and I’m delighted for him,” said Mowbray.
Sub Mustapha Carayol got the second in stoppage time.
Ipswich boss Paul Jewell said: “I’d have been disappointed to get a point, so to get nothing I’m doubly disappointed.”
