Shaun Maloney is looking up
SHAUN MALONEY hopes Wigan’s shock win over Manchester United can be the springboard for them to escape the drop.
Wigan are out of the bottom three for the first time in months. But striker Maloney, who hit Wednesday’s winner against United, says his team must maintain the momentum at Arsenal on Monday. “We needed to win one of our three games against the top sides and we’ve done that,” he said.
“It was a brilliant display from everyone. In the first half, we played as well as we have played all season.
It feels good to be out of the bottom three, so let’s stay that way
“It was our performance at Chelsea that proved to us that we can compete against the top sides. We also have a hard game coming up against Arsenal, so we will focus on that.
“It feels good to be out of the bottom three, so let’s stay that way.
“There will be results like this from every side down in the relegation fight. So we are going to have to win most of our matches now.”
