CHRIS BURKE sympathises with red-carded Danny Fox and says he would never try to get a fellow professional sent off.
Birmingham midfielder Burke said Fox was unlucky after picking up a second caution for an offence that had much to do with the icy conditions. But he believes that defender Fox was lucky to be on the pitch still after the tackle that had brought his first booking.
He refuses to criticise referee Phil Dowd for allowing the game to go ahead after it was reduced to a lottery by the big freeze.
“It was never going to be a free-flowing, passing game in those conditions,” he said.
Manager Nigel Adkins denied Saints are starting to feel the pace, being four points behind leaders West Ham. “We are still top scorers in the Championship,” he said.
